One Plus is a Milanese design studio which reconfigures vintage references into dynamic and innovative visual identities for bars and books alike.

I was really captured by how One Plus combines design referenced of the past and reframes them through a modern lens. I have a huge interest in the act of archiving and looking to the past; the designs feel known but still fresh. I want to be able to capture that sense of familiarity whilst also pushing design forward. One of the lead designers Pietro Avolio states, “We see each project as a process of excavation rather than invention, aiming to reach the cultural and visual core of a subject, where references, behaviours and codes begin to overlap.” This statement spoke to me as I see my own research process as an excavation, I seem my work as constantly referencing and drawing from what has come before
