People Just Do Nothing is a Mockumentary series about the UK pirate radio scene. In this show, the pirate radio that the characters run mainly plays garage and jungle. I took inspiration from this style of radio station when considering what music I would include in the radio recording that I made for my first Unit 7 E&E project, where I made an alien radio station. The fact that pirate radio stations acted as a form of rebellion against the government fit into the narrative that we were building in our E&E project, and I wanted to envision how a radio station like this might look and sound in a future where aliens and humans coexist, by merging the sounds from UK Garage and Jungle with what we envisioned as ‘alien’ sounding voices and music.
