This resource is a video game full of beautiful Shibuya Punk and Y2K graphics that lean into Y2K Futurism in a way akin to games like Jet Set Radio or Splatoon. As far as music, aesthetic, game design, interactivity, creative computing, UI and graphics go, this game is a goldmine. So many little details feel refined to perfection and the political undertones all rooted in punk art and music make Bomb Rush Cyberfunk a really powerful and inspiration-heavy piece of grind fiction.
In my E&E future homes project, this gave me a different perspective as to how surveillance culture and more of a push to authoritarianism could look like in a theoretical future. Although my final outcome was minimally influenced by this game, a lot of the world-building elements of it helped the world-building for my project. Moreover, this game will definitely be a useful resource for me in the future.
