Tickets Please (Issue 44) – The Casual Archivist

Elizabeth Godspeed is the US-editor in chief of ‘It’s Nice That’. She also has a sub stack titled the Casual Archivist where she documents design ephemera from around the world. In this article she looks at the lost design of concert ticket stubs. In the article she remarks about how she went to a concert recently and was struck with how everything was digital now. The article made me think about how objects are linked to memories and how items that are not intended to be coveted but thrown away can hold immense value. This new digital era has somewhat robbed us of the opportunity to hold memories in different forms.

In my current practice I’m aiming to think about how I can create work that stays with people and focus on work that exists outside of the digital space as I feel like so much design is consumed through a screen.

I would recommend subscribing to the Substack as at the end of each issue she recommends an archive, many of which can be a great source of design inspiration.
