Metaverse Petshop is a platform that presents a playful yet ironic system in which virtual pets are generated, purchased, and either preserved or allowed to disappear. Through NFT-based transactions, these pets can be transformed into digital assets. Existing as both companions and commodities within the screen, they blur the distinction between caring for and owning a pet. By staging a scenario where digital beings can be “rescued,” traded, or abandoned, the work raises questions about how value and ethics operate within virtual contexts, echoing the conditions of pet ownership in the physical world.
