This book was recommended to me as a group we started looking into the role of AI within speculative design. We were leaning toward a dystopian view of technology in the future, but this book introduced another perspective, where technology and and human needs coexist in a more hopeful and positive light.
AI 2041 directly influenced my approach to the project, particularly when designing a health-related artefact. I began exploring how AI could function as supportive system within a world of nomadic survival.
And as this was one of the first times I worked towards speculative design, this line was also helpful for me: “the greatest value of science fiction is not providing answers, but rather raising questions.” This helped me be more open-ended in my thinking rather than trying to “solve” for the future.
