This book argues that museums should move from being places where visitors passively receive information to spaces where they actively contribute ideas, stories, and interpretations. From my perspective, the book shows how participation—through dialogue, co-creation, and shared authority—can make museums more relevant and meaningful to diverse audiences. It is useful for my inclusivity project at the Wellcome Collection because it provides practical models for inviting visitors and communities to shape content rather than just consume it. By designing participatory experiences, the museum can reduce barriers, represent more voices, and create a stronger sense of belonging for people who might not normally feel included in museum spaces.
