For the Men’s Autumn/Winter 2004 collection, Alexander McQueen presented a short film to showcase the collection, the film is sometimes referenced unofficially in online posts as “Who Shot Who” or “Texist”, but the official credits aren’t widely documented online.
The film uses a fixed wide angle shot positions centrally in a bedroom with a bathroom and kitchen visible through door ways located metrically on either side of the room. Showing 2 days in 10.56 minutes it shows a couple coming and going; starting and ending there days. The side rooms on either side helping to punctate the days with peeps into activities like bathing and eating. Light most clearly shows the passing of time and mood, whether its etherial softened daylight through the window directly opposite from the camera or subdued light from floor and bedside lamps. In one instance only light from a TV set in front on the bed illuminated only the bed surrounded by an oppressive darkness.
In all this film adds drama to otherwise mundane surroundings just like clothing can add a sense of drama to a mundane body.
