Naked City, Weegee

Weegee, AKA Arthur Fellig, was a 20th century street photographer known for his gritty, noir-style images of New York City’s underbelly in the 1930’s and 40’s. His work – which captured crime scenes, street life and popular culture – was influenced by his ability to ‘anticipate’ disasters by monitoring police radio frequencies. His most famous book, Naked City, was published in 1945.
