Thinking with Type 2004 Ellen Lupton

This book is about typography and layout, divided into three parts: Letter, Text, and Grid. It explores how the structure of type, text arrangement, and page systems can shape visual language and reading experience. Lupton emphasizes that typography is not decoration but a way of thinking—designers use scale, spacing, and layout to express rhythm, tone, and attitude. This provided inspiration and guidance for our project’s main typeface design: we aim to preserve the paper-cut aesthetic while following fundamental typographic principles to ensure readability and a sense of order.
