Core reading list
Each unit on BA GCD has 2-3 core readings which are made available in advance of the unit and are regularly referenced during lectures and other unit activities. These readings are continuously reviewed by staff, with input from students.
Contextual Resources List
In addition to the core readings, staff and students produce their own Contextual Resources List detailing references and resources that have informed their learning in each unit. This enables thematically and culturally diverse sets of references, unique to your respective practices to be incorporated into your learnings.
Community Resources List
Staff & students Contextual Resources Lists form the Community Resource Lists, widening the scope of references and in turn that of graphic design. It is a shared but shifting set of references that sparks interest and ignites dialogue across our community of practitioners. This is an opportunity to explore collectively the existing theoretical and practical landscape of graphic design. A landscape shaped by historical and social contexts that students are challenged to disassemble, question and in turn reshape through their use of graphic communication design. Community lists also serve as an important input to the development of the Core Reading lists (above) over time.
