Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a global, decentralised, and non-partisan environmental movement that uses non-violent direct action and civil disobedience to pressure governments to act immediately on the “climate and ecological emergency”. Founded in 2018 in the UK, it demands urgent action to cut carbon emissions to net zero, protect biodiversity, and establish citizens’ assemblies to ensure equitable solutions.

The project is informed by Extinction Rebellion’s bold and action-oriented visual language, which transforms complex environmental issues into urgent and accessible messages.
While the Natural History Museum archive provides knowledge, this approach ensures the information is not passively consumed but instead encourages public engagement and behavioural change.
