Future Day Spa by Lucy McRae, 2016

Lucy McRae, a body architect and artist created the Future spa day as a scientific and immersive wellness experience that reimagines the relationship between human bodies and technology. The installation uses controlled vacuum pressure to create the sensation of a full body “hug” including deep relaxation through what she describes as a “part of human, part of mechanism” therapeutic session. Unlike traditional spa treatments, the future spa day integrates biometric technology to map physiological responses in real time, tracking how the body reacts to pressure and environment. Developed in collaboration with tech professionals like Qualcomm, the project explores how technology can prepare human bodies for extreme future environments, including space travel.
