Matthew Ryals is a musician, sound designer, and educator based in New York, NY. Primarily working with a modular synthesizer, his music explores cybernetics, and unfixed forms.
For his third album, impromptus in isolation, the designer created the cassette tape release. An album where all tracks were recorded live with no overdubs using a eurorack modular synthesizer, the designer took inspiration from Matthew’s improvisational style with his synth, creating a procedural graphic element that was able to flex and change, just like his music.
Geometric designs were procedurally built in Cavalry and generated randomly for the sleeves.
