Rachel Whiteread – House, 1993

Rachel Whiteread’s House was a large concrete cast of the interior of an entire Victorian terrace house in London. By filling the empty space inside the building and then removing the exterior walls, Whiteread turned absence into a solid, monumental presence. The work highlighted themes of memory, loss, domestic life, and urban change.
