Reframing Identity Beyond Nations
The article shows that flags often tied to nationalism are also adaptable artistic tools. Their simple, universal graphics allow endless reinterpretation, letting artists question identity, belonging, and power.
This supports my project’s approach: flags don’t need to represent nations. They can represent systems. By turning PCB traces, chip-card graphics, and ATM interfaces into a “flag language,” I reveal how modern infrastructures shape our sense of control, movement, and belonging.
