Rinko Kawauchi’s Illuminance (2011) is a photographic series capturing ordinary, fleeting moments, sunlight filtering through trees, children at play, or small everyday details. Kawauchi’s images emphasize subtle light, gentle focus, and quiet beauty, inviting viewers to slow down and notice the overlooked. Like Kawauchi, my work focuses on finding poetry in small, often transient moments. In my photo–poem books, I explore light, time, and impermanence through matches, flowers, and site-based responses. Illuminance resonates with my investigation of stillness as both subject and methodology, reinforcing how slow, attentive observation can transform ordinary experiences into reflective, emotional imagery.
