Glitch Feminism: A Manifesto by Legacy Russell, 2020

Glitch Feminism by Legacy Russell explores how digital spaces can allow people to challenge fixed ideas about gender, identity, and the body. Russell views the glitch as a form of creative resistance. Instead of seeing errors as problems, she presents them as opportunities to break away from status quo, traditional norms and expectations. In this view, the internet or cyberspace becomes a place where anyone can experiment with how they present themselves, question systems of control and imagine new democratic futures, or ways of being, especially with a focus on marginalised groups. Glitch Feminism invites an open and inclusive understanding of identity, one that values difference, change, and the power found in imperfection.

My favourite section of the book is the discussion of remix culture, where she explains how digital culture allows ideas, identities, and artworks to be reworked, shared, and reimagined collectively, slowly building a world more appropriate and inclusive for everyone.
