Sound Sculpture with the Thames by Bill Fontana, 1982

Bill Fontana’s Sound Sculpture with the Thames broadcasts the live sound of London’s river to different urban sites, turning environmental noise into music. By recontextualising everyday sound, Fontana creates a bridge between place and perception, inviting listeners to experience the river as a living, resonant presence. His work serves as a direct precedent for my exploration of sound as a tool for mapping memory and emotion.
